Cruisin' in Alaska Baby!!!

My hubby and I are very blessed. We are fortunate enough to be able to go on vacation, and we also have loving family members who are happy to watch our son for us while we go. I believe very strongly that couples should get away alone together occasionally, especially after they have children. Once you become parents, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that you used to be a couple.

So in celebration of my 25th birthday, my sweet husband took me on a cruise to a place I've always wanted to visit...Alaska. Besides Alaska, there is only one other location I have to cross off my list of places to see before I die...and that's the East Coast (New York, Boston, Pennsylvania, etc).

Anyways, we had a great time! Here is a picture of our ship...we rode on the Pearl which is a ship that belongs to Norwegian Cruise Line.

One special thing about this cruise line is that in addition to the traditional large dining rooms, they also have specialty restaurants throughout the ship that you can make reservations for. We only went to two of those since they had an extra cover charge (the steakhouse and the Teppenyaki bar that was a lot like Bennihana). They were both yummy!

We did a little bit of gambling in the casino, played a little bit of bingo, and lost a little bit of money in the process! We also attended a few live shows and even a few educational lectures.

An interesting thing about Canada and Alaska, is that during the summer it doesn't ever get dark in some places. Our first night on the ship, the sun never completely set, and we took this picture from our balcony at 10:30pm.

Luckily, we had some thick curtains to keep the light out of our room so we could sleep.

We also stopped off at a few places and did some neat excursions...
