Wheel of Fortune

On Saturday my mom and I went to the Home and Garden Expo to see about trying out for Wheel of Fortune. There were three different "games" that afternoon, each one lasting an hour. You have to wait in line and submit your application for each game and then stand in a big crowded (and hot) room waiting to see if they randomly draw your name. I'd say there were about 500 people for each round, with about 30 names being drawn. They draw 5 names at a time, and those five people go to the stage for an interview and to try and compete with each other to guess one puzzle.

So, we stood throughout the first round, sweating our butts off and getting kankles (well, for me, anyways!). The excitement was wearing off, but we got back in line for the second game, submitted our application and then sat in the back of the room eating snacks. The second round was almost over and we were in the middle of a conversation, not paying much attention when all of a sudden I heard my name!!!

I ran to the front of the room, totally freaking out! I was so nervous. I hate having to get up in front of people and talk. So when it was my turn for the interview, I tried to talk over my pounding heart and be as witty as possible because they prefer people who will be outgoing and funny on the show. Then the five of us got back in position and started the puzzle round. And would you believe that I guessed it right before anybody else and looked like a genius because there were only 5 letters already on the board! I still don't know how I managed to think clearly when I was so nervous, but it was awesome!

Now, if they liked me, they will invite me back for ANOTHER audition in about a month, here in Phoenix. Then if I make it through that audition, I'll be on the show!!! I'm hoping I get called back for a second audition because a lot of the people standing in the crowd came up to me and told me I did great and they think I will get called back! So, cross your fingers!

Here is the only blurry picture we have of me on the stage doing my interview. My mom was a little nervous for me too, so this was all she could manage on her cell phone!

We got back in line for the 3rd game to see if my mom might still get drawn, but unfortunately she never did. :( Which sucks because she is a big Wheel fan and this was her 2nd time attending one of these audition events.

And if you're wondering, the puzzle I guessed looked like this...
_ _ R S T
_ _ _ S _ _ S

And the answer was...
"FIRST COUSINS"

Awesome!! You would guess the most family oriented puzzle! haha! Hopefully you'll get on the show and I'll record it!
